Based on the Lola B08/60, the Lola B08/80 (B09/80) was designed to compete in the 2008 Le Mans LMP2 class, therefore it housed a smaller engine and a lighter weight. The most common engine was the Judd V8, but various alternatives were also used. However, new regulations between 2008 and 2009 forced some minor changes to the cars that henceforth would designate them by new yearly iteration. Most cars would be known as B09/80 or B09/86, but
iterations such as B10/65, B11/66 and B12/65 would also be used to distinguish them from the production line Lolas.
This Lola B09/80 HU05 participated 11 events in total between 2010-2011 for Racing Box and Guess Racing Europe with a 2nd place at the 2010 6h Vallelunga as its best result. Overall, this car had a solid track record. Finishing often in the top tens with very few DSQ and DNFs. The four most frequent drivers were the Italians Filippo Francioni, Giacomo Piccin, Piergiuseppe Perazzini and Luca Pirri Ardizzone.
