Named for the 1999 season, the Jordan 199 marked the high point of Jordan F1’s competitiveness. The car featured a carbon fiber monocoque chassis
and was powered by a 3.0L naturally aspirated Mugen-Honda V10, producing around 780 hp. It used a 6-speed electrohydraulic semi-automatic gearbox and double wishbone suspension with pushrod dampers. Driven by Damon Hill and Heinz-Harald Frentzen, the car combined reliability with speed. While Frentzen scored most of the team’s points, Hill’s experience helped guide development through his final Formula One season. Chassis 199-01 was Damon
Hill’s primary car early in the season. Though Hill struggled with pace and motivation, his feedback remained valuable before he announced his
retirement.
