The 193 featured several aerodynamic refinements and was the first Jordan chassis to experiment with a semi-automatic gearbox, though reliability issues meant that a traditional manual gearbox was also used during parts of the season. Power came from the 3.5L Hart 1035 V10 engine, delivering around 700 bhp at 13,000 rpm, mounted in a carbon fiber composite monocoque chassis. The Jordan 193-04 was introduced late in to the season and seems to have
fixed many of the issues that plagued the earlier chassis. The 193-04 It made it clear that the up-and-coming Jordan team both had the will and the esources in their struggle of becoming a competitive force in F1. While Rubens Barrichello made his F1 debut with the team that year, chassis 193-
04 was notably driven by Eddie Irvine, the 6 driver for Jordan during 1993.. Who only joined Jordan for the two last races and still proving that he could hold pace with Rubens. This is also the car in which Irvine famously managed to overtake and unlap himself from Senna – leading to a punch to Irvines face after the race.
