The Ferrari F430 GT2 is a highly successful racing variant of the Ferrari F430, developed specifically for the GT2 category of sports car racing. Built in collaboration with renowned motorsport engineering firm Michelotto, it was introduced in 2006 and quickly became one of the most dominant GT2-class
cars of its era. The car was based on the road-going Ferrari F430 but underwent extensive modifications to comply with the GT2 class regulations set by the FIA and ACO. These rules limited engine displacement, mandated aerodynamic restrictions, and enforced a minimum weight, all of which pushed engineers to optimize performance without relying on high horsepower alone. This car was first driven by Peter Sundberg in the 2006 Spanish GT. After a
very successful four years with the car it was later sold to Kari Mäkinen. Kari Mäkinen, who previously drove a Ferrari 360 for many years drove this car for three championships in Sweden, where the car would be up-classed.
